Shahid Kapoor-Nawaz-Kriti Sanon's Farzi is on track for January-February start

#

For last 8-10 days, there have been some rumors floating around Shahid Kapoor's next film, Farzi, being shelved. Reason for that was attributed to not-so-happy response to Happy Ending which was directed by Raj and DK, who were supposed to kick-start Farzi early next year. However as has turned out, this too has been yet another plain and simple speculation with no basis to it.

"I am wondering where is the so-called news, which is nothing but plain speculation, coming from," says Raj Nidimoru, "It is as random as it gets. The film is certainly on and we are in pre-production."

"We did take a small break before starting on preparation," adds Krishna DK, who was traveling for a few days while he celebrated his birthday, "Even after we lock the final script, we usually take two to three months aside just for the preparation. It isn't any different for Farzi."

As a matter of fact work is on in full swing for this Eros production, what with secondary cast being put together and production design being on.

"And since we are on it, let us dispel another myth around the film. No, it isn't about internet hacking, as is another rumor making the rounds," says Raj, "The film is very contemporary and is set in today's time and scenario. Also, it is not a remake of any film, it is truly original. The film has a very big canvas to it and also has a slight action and satirical humor."

They are not bogged down by the fact that the exact date for the start of film's shoot is yet to be finalized.

"There was never any fixed start date. It was always decided that once Shahid and Nawaz are done with their current projects, we will start Farzi," says DK, "In January or at maximum February, we would be on."

Meanwhile Kriti Sanon, the leading lady of the film, is already looking forward to the film going on floors. Even as she gets ready for her part, she says, "It is a totally new part for a female protagonist. I am kicked enough to get going soon."

That should settle it once for and all.

It is possible that Alia Bhatt choose choose to do Udta Punjab because Rock On 2 has an ensemble cast which would give less importance to her role. Alia Bhatt was offered role of that girl of the band member who replaces Luke Kenny whose character died in ‘Rock On’.
Alia Bhatt says she wanted some challenging movie like Udta Punjab which test her abilities and where its chance again to be opposite to Shahid, then why not?
With every success out from Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year, 2 States, Highway and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Alia Bhatt is full of movie offers and every director’s first choice.

Dear Shahid Kapoor, thank you for giving us Haider in 2014!

Dear Shahid Kapoor, thank you for giving us Haider in 2014!

The actor impressed the critics as well as the audiences with his powerful performance in Vishal Bhardwaj’s desi adaptation of of Hamlet

It won’t be a surprise if Shahid Kapoor walks away with the maximum Best Actor trophies, come award season next year. Why shouldn’t he ? Shahid’s risk of taking on one of literature’s most daunting characters paid off big time! I still remember the chatter in trade circles when Shahid signed Haider. “Risk le raha hai!”, “Who will want to watch a Shakespeare adaptation”, “Is he crazy to come on the same day as Hrithik?”, these were some of PG-13 comments I can share. Not everyone was happy or convinced that Shahid could pull this off. In fact I remember during my interview with an A-list star asking me, “Ye Haider kya hai?“, when we were discussing forthcoming releases. His producer turned director friend who sat next to me chimed in, “Yeh mat likhna interview mein!” Of course I censored that bit, but what struck me was the fact how the situation had suddenly turned to Shahid v/s Rest of the industry. It was as if every trade expert had already made a coffin (pun intended) for the film to it’s own tune of the Aao na!
Shahid wasn’t the sorts to succumb to peer pressure and throw the towel in so easily. He ferociously promoted Haider, without overselling the film but never ever underplaying the sharpness of his character. Shahid had become Haider, and I don’t mean the physical attribute of just shaving his head off, he was living that part. Those close to him would tell stories of his obsession with this film and how much he wanted people to spend their money and watch it. Despite Bang Bang being the safe bet that weekend, Haider emerged as the dark horse of 2014.
Not everyone liked the film, there were politicial hues given to the film post release and debates on prime time about how the film is anti-Indian, everyone wanted to discuss Haider, talk about that climax, describe their favourite scene, do their own rendition of Bismil, it had become the cool film to talk about in colleges, review it in those cigarette breaks, share on Facebook statuses and Twitter. “Kya tune Haider dekhi?” suddenly became the question of the moment.
What Shahid needs to take home from the success of Haider is the fact that its time for him to take risks, not the ones where he rescues Sonakshi Sinha from the clutches of a lecherous Sonu Sood in R…Rajkumar, but the kind of gamble where he works with directors and a cast who will challenge him each day. He should still continue doing this Dhating gravity defying pelvic thrusts and play the quintessential lover boy, but we want more Haiders from Shahid. We prefer the mad Shahid in the mike test 1..2..3..scene to the one who rescues his lady love from a Sonu Sood!

Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor to re-unite for 'Udta Punjab'?

Well, we are sure you are as much shocked as we were after hearing the news! But it is almost official that the ex-lovers Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor are coming together yet again for their next film - Udta Punjab.
After Emraan Hashmi walked out and Ayushmann Khurrana was cast in the film, Alia Bhatt was signed on to play the leading lady opposite Sasha in Abhishek Chaubey's film. But now we hear that the director has been meeting and trying to cajole Kareena for another role in his film.
Although Kareena and Shahid wont play lovers in the film, they will share screen space. Shahid will romance his Shaandar co-star Alia Bhatt while Kareena will play a different role.
Given that previously Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone came together after their split for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and shattered box office records, anticipation is high from this one as well.

Shahid Kapoor & Kareena in a movie together?

Of late grapevines have it that director Abhishek Chaubey might be successful in doing an unexpected feat - that is, to bring together ex-lovers Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor-Khan, in his next project titled ‘Udta Punjab’.
Already we had Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone setting an impressive example in ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, by proving that ex-couple can still work wonders on big screen. However it remains to see whether Shahid and Kareena, who created blockbuster together with ‘Jab We Met’, will indeed come together now.
Talks are there that Abhishek Chaubey’s film will not have these two stars as a couple. Instead, Alia Bhatt will feature opposite Shahid. Hmmm, interesting...

Shandaar shoot stopped over non-payments to workers

#

The shooting of the Alia Bhatt- Shahid Kapoor film Shandaar hit a roadblock when Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union stalled its shoot yesterday at the Essel Studios, because of the non-payment of dues of the workers.

Speaking about this, Gangeshwar Srivastav (General Secretary- Allied Mazdoor Union) had stated that the producers of Shandaar are supposed to clear their dues amounting to around Rs. 7 lakhs. Earlier while it was mentioned that the workers refused to co-operate since the makers were only ready to pay Rs. 4 lakhs, now, we hear that the entire payment has been released and the film is back on track.

Srivastav maintained that the workers have resumed shooting, further adding that they are very happy to co-operate and will soon shift to the next shooting schedule for the film. Though he expressed his concern over the delay in payments, he also claimed that if the workers are given their due, they would be more than happy to continue with their work.

Besides Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, Shandaar also stars Pankaj Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor. The film will also mark the debut of Shahid's sister Sanah in Bollywood.

Award organisers want Shahid Kapoor to perform the 'Haider' monologue

Shahid Kapoor was seen performing at many award functions last year. His songs from R..Rajkumar were high on frequency and his music of his films were on high frequency. Shahid's stage performances at large are power packed and loved by audiences be it dancing or hosting (IIFA).
However this time around with the award season lurking around the corner Shahid has been receiving requests from organizers to perform the Haider Monologue on stage. Shahid’s performance in the film has received umpteenth accolades and especially the monologue was much talked about.
Taking from there a lot of award ceremony organizers have approached Shahid Kapoor to perform his monologue from Haider this season. They are keen for Shahid to package the monologue in a small 10 – 12 minute skit and in the midst of it weave the monologue.
While Shahid’s team has been discussing it with him and cajoling him to take it up the ace actor thinks otherwise.
Shahid feels rendering the monologue might be too emotionally draining for him and especially to do it at an award show. Infact before this monologue he spent time alone and went over the lines again and again in solitude. Kashmir as a place also helped set the tone of the scene
Haider was one of the most difficult films for Shahid. Shahid has performed with a lot of intensity and power and is one of his best performances of all times.
