Music – Amit Trivedi
Lyrics – Amitabh Bhattacharya & Anvita Dutt
Singers – Amit Trivedi, Vishal Dadlani, Anusha Mani, Nikhil Paul George, Neeti Mohan, Arijit Singh, Swanand Kirkire & Divya Kumar
Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt‘s Shaandaar is one of the most awaited releases this year. The trailers and the songs have really caught everyone’s fancy, especially the Gulaabo and theShaam Shaandaar songs. Director Vikas Bahl reunites with his fave composer Amit Trivedi after a zany soundtrack in Queen. Let’s see how the entire album benefits from their collaboration.
Shaam Shaandaar
Amit Trivedi himself takes up the singing duties for the first song of the album, and going by the video of the song that was launched last week, we know what a rocking number it is! It’s a song that will make even the listener to reach out for the dance floor, and you have Shahid Kapoor to show you the moves! A great start!
Gulaabo
It’s Vishal Dadlani and Anusha Mani here to croon what could be one of the best songs of the years. Like Shaam Shaandaar, even Gulaabo has some really addictive beats that will get you hooked on to the song the instant you hear it! Though Vishal Dadlani is the song-stealer (pardon the pun!) here, Anusha Mani complements her male co-singer quite well. Gulaabo is surely going to top the charts for a long time!
Nazdeekiyaan
It’s time for the romantic piece to enter the show, as is the norm with all Bollywood albums. It’s up to Nikhil Paul George and and Neeti Mohan to make sure we fall in love with the song and they do a pretty good job in doing so. Nikhil Paul George, with his lazy sounding voice that he used to impress us with Shaam in Aisha, continues to do so, while Neeti Mohan is excellent. It may take a couple of hearings for the song to work its magic on, but I assure it’s totally worth it!
Senti Wali Mental
With a title like that, you expect a madcap number like Happy B’Day from ABCD 2. But Senti Wali Mental is different. Sure, it’s fun number, where men and women make fun of each other, but in a more sangeet version style. The lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya are quirky and amusing (Brad Pitt ka hai tu potta…ya James Bond Hai?). Swanand Kirkire, Arijit Singh, Amit Trivedi and Neeti Mohan seem to have fun with lyrics too, as they get on to the business of mocking each other.
Raitaa Phailgaya
Since the film is all about destination wedding, there has to to be one song about weddings and of course, alcohol, and that’s what Raitaa Phailgaya is all about! It’s a totally crazy song, and Amit Trivedi has roped in the right man to justice do the song – Divya Kumar, who enlivens the proceedings with his unconventional singing. Amitabh Bhattacharya scores again with his apt and funny words (Gulzar ke geeton mein Honey Singh kaise ghus gaya… Brilliant!)! It would sure be fun to watch this song on the screen!
Verdict
Any album with Amit Trivedi’s name on it is bound to be a chart-buster, and the man has seldom disappointed us. The songs in this soundtrack only confirms this much established fact, as you have an album that simply serves to please your ears and make you say, Shaandaar!
